Cover Reveal for Leighton Dean’s, Gunboy…

cover-final1

The cover is by the sci-fi legendary artist, Jim Burns. His work is spellbinding and he has captured the essence of this book with one image. This is a great read with great art. Coming out early 2017.

Leighton Dean’s Cyber-Thriller, set in a divided Britain, (very apt in the current aftermath of Brexit and the disintegration of the political opposition) where politicians grind the country between the cogs of their machinations.

An idealist, lost in war torn streets, a cybernetic enhanced soldier at odds with his mission and a child who knows nothing but murder, must stand together to United a Kingdom.

“Evan had a simple job; enter the anarchist London and bring back Window, the leader of the ‘Free London’ movement. But when a Red Cross transport helicopter is shot down over Hounslow, the tenuous truce between the governing gangs is broken. His mission doomed, he finds an unlikely ally in Bo, a thirteen year old assassin born of the streets.”

He is also the keeper of story and world building on Age of Ascent, a massively multiplayer space combat game due for release in 2017 from Ilyriad. His first novel, A Family War, the first book of The Oligarchy, was published in May 2016. Blurb for Dreams of Darkness

Millennia ago, man walked the Dream with creatures now dimly remembered in myths and legends. Then came the Darkness, for which all believe man was responsible. To defeat it, man was banned from the Dream, cast out into the world of dumb matter.

Chris Elkin knows nothing of this – he’s more concerned with failing his degree, being dumped by his girlfriend and losing access to the inheritance left to him by his late mother. When his mother’s best friend gives him a stone with a hole in it everything seems to change. Suddenly he’s being forced from his home and discovering that if he doesn’t deal with his mother’s legacy, both worlds will go to war.

On the edge of the Dream, Maela, a Fae ambassador, finds humanity flouting the ban. She travels home to warn her people but her news is not welcome. Maela is sent to determine if man truly is to blame for the Darkness and if he is, to unite the Fae in a war against all mankind.

Shaal, an ancient fox spirit, is a survivor who mourns the loss of his lover in the last war. He still haunts the shattered lands where they once lived. Stumbling across a deliberately forgotten memory. Shaal wants to return home and use its power to restore his land. Instead he finds the Fae want what he has and will sacrifice thousands to get it.

Chris, Maela and Shaal converge in a climactic battle against those forces who would wipe out mankind to stop the Darkness.  Even if they win, shadowing the edges of their confrontation, the Darkness is plotting its first moves.

Dreams of Darkness is an epic fantasy spread across our world and the world of the Dream, that place where all our myths, all our legends are real. It is the first book of a new Epic Fantasy series, The Fox’s Hope and asks, if all our dreams are true, what would happen if our two worlds collide?

Super short blurb:

Dreams of Darkness is an epic fantasy where twisted myths and legends crash headlong into the life of a failed student, Chris, who discovers he’s the one they’re all expecting to save their world from the rest of us.

Published on 11th November 2016.

Here’s the blurb:

“September 1st 1939 – Germany invades Poland, thus triggering the Second World War as well as laying the foundations of German leader Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich, which was intended to last for a thousand years.

April 30th, 1945 – Adolph Hitler allegedly commits suicide in the Führerbunker as Allied Forces close in, Hitler’s dreams shattered and Berlin in burning ruins around him.

Early 2010 – A man with CIA connections is found brutally murdered in his apartment. Global financial systems have collapsed, plunging the world into recession. The Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull erupts, closing European airspace but was it natural or induced? Air Force One, carrying the US President, has its operating system hacked and the plane is controlled by unknown enemies. Threats are made. Prominent figures and leaders from the political, industrial, and religious circles across the globe are systematically killed within three frenzied days of murder. These seemingly unconnected events throw the whole world into turmoil.

Freddy Bartlett, a police detective at SOCA, is given the task of solving the murder, but it turns out not to be as simple as expected. As the clues and events pile, the conclusion is drawn that a Hitler bloodline exists and everything is connected by a vast web of conspiracy, tracing itself back to World War 11; a time the world would rather forget. Truths are uncovered which threaten to shake the very foundations of the modern global village, as a long-hidden secret society from the 30’s harnesses dark occult forces and unleashes Hell on Earth for one purpose and one purpose alone: to institute the Fourth Reich.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

19th October 2016 | Worldwide

Visit www.ticketyboopress.co.uk/ or www.space-dock.co.uk for contact details, review copies, submission-calls, and more.

Paul Corcoran is said to be delighted at his second acquisition as editor of Space Dock. Alex Laybourne has signed a 3-book deal which starts with Lost and Found and will be published early 2017

***

Alex’s novel follows Glenn Hawke’s tragic past which forged him into a fearsome bounty hunter, but when a job takes him to the edge of the free systems, Glenn is forced to into a confrontation with the man who changed his life, so long ago.

He’s about to learn that sometimes when you start chasing ghosts, they don’t hide – they lie waiting…

***

Alex is the author of thirteen novels. He was born and raised in the coastal English town Lowestoft, it should come as no surprise (to those that have the misfortune of knowing this place) that he became a horror writer.

From an early age Alex was sent to schools which were at least 30 minutes’ drive away and so spent most of his free time alone, as the friends he did have lived too far away for him to be able to hang out with them in the weekends or holidays.

He’s been a writer as long as he can remember and has always had a vivid imagination. To this very day he finds it all too easy to just drift away into his own mind and explore the world he creates; where the conditions always seem to be just perfect for the cultivation of ideas, plots, scenes, characters and lines of dialogue.

Alex is married and has five wonderful children; James, Logan, Ashleigh, Damon and Riley. Alex’s biggest dream for them is that they grow up, and spend their lives doing what makes them happy, whatever that is.

For people who buy Alex’s work, he hopes that they enjoy what they read and that he can create something that takes them away from reality for a short time. For Alex, the greatest compliment he can receive is not based on rankings but by knowing that people enjoy what he produces, that they buy his work with pleasure and never once feel as though their money would have been better spent elsewhere.

Tickety Boo Rises!

3rd Spectral Book of Horror Stories – Dust Jacket

sbohs3-hb-absolute-finalIn 2013, Mark Morris, well-known author of such novels as Toady and the Obsidian Heart trilogy, put forward the idea to Spectral Press chief editor Simon Marshall-Jones the idea of a Pan Book of Horror-style annual anthology. Mark had always wanted to edit such a series, and luckily Simon immediately loved the idea, so, at FantasyCon 2014, the first volume was launched to much acclaim. Press-wise, it received many positive reviews and was nominated for various awards the following year.

Volume 2 was released the following year and now, at Halloween 2016, Volume 3, edited by Joseph Rubas, carries on the tradition very ably started by Mark. Already two further volumes are planned for 2017.

The hardback edition is limited to 200 copies so get your orders in now!

The Saiph Series Hardbacks – Books 1 – 4 by PP Corcoran

saiph-x3It’s not very often you can say that I am so excited by signing a new author, But today I am beyond that. Tickety Boo Press’ imprint. Space Dock has acquired the hardback rights to the hugely successful Saiph series that sold nearly 100,000 copies in ebook format and was a #1 best seller in multiple categories.

PP Corcoran is a much respected and prolifically successful author of military SF novels.

Book 4 is being polished as we speak: more news by signing up for our newsletter.

AUTHOR BIO

Paul P Corcoran is the author of several books, including the Amazon best-selling science fiction Saiph Series: Discovery of the Saiph, Search for the Saiph, Hunt for the Saiph and the forthcoming Legacy of the Saiph.  The first three books in the Saiph series are currently available on ebook, paperback and audiobooks. ‘Legacy of the Saiph’ will follow in all of these formats in 2016.

At the beginning of 2016 Paul collaborated with three other British military science fiction best-selling authors to release a four-novel anthology entitled ‘The Empire at War’ which became an Amazon best-seller within weeks of it’s release.   He is currently working on ‘Invasion’ the first instalment of the K’Tai War trilogy.  This trilogy will be published over 2016 and early 2017 and all three books will again be available as ebooks, paperbacks and Tantor Media, the largest independent audio book publisher in the US, has already optioned the trilogy.

Most recently Retropunk have optioned the Saiph Series and will soon be publishing the ebook and paperback in Portuguese.

Paul grew up in the British Army having joined at just 17 ½ years old and spent the next twenty plus years there while devouring any and all science fiction he could get his hands on. Post army he stayed in the security and intelligence worlds and with more time on his hands put his military skills and experiences to good use by combining them with his lifetime love of sci-fi to create stories of space marines, space battles and fantastic technologies for his reader’s enjoyment (and his own).

With the success of his début Saiph series Paul has turned his one-time hobby into a career and now concentrates on writing, much to the horror of his wife who puts up with him at home on a full-time basis.

Very pleased to reveal the new cover for Martin Owton’s Nandor, the second book in the Nandor Tales series.

The 3rd Spectral Book of Horror Stories – Table of Contents Announcement by Editor Joseph Rubas

After announcing two days ago that submissions have officially opened for the 4th and 5th Spectral Book of Horror Stories, we’re proud to reveal the incredible Table of Contents for The 3rd Spectral Book of Horror Stories, edited by Joseph Rubas, with cover art by Holly Madew.

The 3rd Spectral Book of Horror Stories, Edited by Joseph Rubas

The 3rd Spectral Book of Horror Stories, Edited by Joseph Rubas

Let’s hand over to Joseph Rubas to announce the Table of Contents:

***

In April 2016, Gary Compton, of Tickety Boo Press, who had published my second short story collection After Midnight (2014) approached me about editing the third entry in the Spectral Book of Horror Stories series. “You’re kidding, right?” I asked. To me at least, the Spectral Book of Horror Stories is the top of the top. Sure, you might not get rich and famous after having your work in one, but growing up, I loved horror anthologies, especially the Pan Book of Horror Stories and the Zebra Book of Horror Stories. I read every single anthology I could get my hand on, and discovered work, by authors both known and unknown, that stays with me to this day. I loved the covers, the stories, the yellowed pages. The Spectral Book of Horror Stories has always reminded me of those old collections, and to be asked to edit it…it was like going from playing guitar in a suburban garage somewhere to playing Madison Square Gardens.

It was intimidating, but I think I did fairly well. Or rather, the authors did fairly well.

Okay, they did really well.

Here, then, is the table of contents for the Third Spectral Book of Horror Stories. It runs the gamut from psychological horror (“Portfolio’, “Disappearing in the Desert”) to supernatural horror (“It Knocks”, “Cotton Face”) to light science fiction (“The Eyes Have It”). Some of these writers have never been published before, and some have been in the business for over fifty years (William F. Nolan, who, with the late George Clayton Johnson, authored the novel Logan’s Run, will be 89 next spring). I am proud of them all.

Okay, enough. Here it is in all its glory:

Table of Contents

Foreword: A Word on Fear

Portfolio – A. H. Day

Dysfunctional – William F. Nolan

Playthings – Eugene Johnson

Beyond the Grave – Alex Marco

Three Twilight Zone Variations on a High School Reunion – Lou Antonelli

Sins of the Father – Mark Allan Gunnells

Cotton Face – Dan Weatherer

Disappearing in the Desert – Billie Sue Mosiman

It Knocks – Paul Longmate

The Eyes Have It – Tim Major

Boat Trip – David A. Riley

And the Woman Loved Her Cats – S. L. Edwards

The Day the Leash Gave Way – Robert Clarke

The Door into Envy – Adrian Cole
